KTForce partners met in Porto to learn about Innovation practices in the North Region of Portugal

On March 1-2, the partnership of the KTForce project gathered in Porto, Portugal, to learn about best practices in innovation policies and knowledge transfer in the North Region of Portugal. During the study visit, the representatives of the Germany, French, Irish, Lithuanian and Romanian partner organisations had the opportunity to gain an understanding of the knowledge and technology transfer eco-system of the University of Porto and the strategy of the North region of Portugal to improve its competitiveness. The agenda included a meeting at the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N) along with presentations by a number of technological entities, including INESC TEC, the UTEN network (University Technology Enterprise Network incorporating the UT Austin|Portugal programme), the Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto (UPTEC), the international Fraunhofer AICOS Portugal innovation centre and the Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials (CeNTI).

The study visit coincided with the launch of the project “KTForce – Knowledge Transfer joint forces for efficient innovation policies”, which aims to improve innovation policies in the partner regions by sharing the experience of the Knowledge Transfer offices. KTForce is a project supported by INTERREG IV C, an inter-regional cooperation programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which main objective is to improve the development of regional policies in the knowledge transfer and innovation area between universities and the industry, through the exchange of best practices between different European organizations.
