Give an overview of the practice
Biotech Pipeline is a technology portal that was developed to promote the biotechnologies/medical/life science technologies emanating from the laboratories of the University Joseph Fourier, Grenoble. The project is to our mind, the first TTO technology portal to be developed to promote projects directly to industry. In marketing terms the "look and feel" of the project was deliberately positioned around the "lifestyle" theme of big pharm websites. This was done to ensure that the companies saw the relevance of our projects and to make them understand the synergies that exist between our work and their own. The project was launched in 2009 and is translated into English and French, though English is the main language. The portal also gives us, importantly, the opportunity to promote each of our new technologies via the web and generates around 25 leads per year for new potential partnerships or business. The site was launched at Eurobio, a major biotech trade fair, and Floralis sent out postcard mailings, advertising the site to the event's attendees. The project's success can be measured quantitively via the leads that it has developed but also qualitively, having received a wide range of positive feedback from industrial contacts. Around 500 visitors per month browse the various offerings that are advertised on this portal.
