What is the aim/objective? 
The objective of this laboratory is to support projects of companies’ creation in the pre-incubation phase. It enables to the pre-companies to make a proof of concept in areas related with INESCPORTO's technologies and other markets which are related with the application area of the technologies developed at INESCPORTO. It also gives value to the technologies generated within or sometimes outside the INESCPORTO, and encourages the creation of companies. It is also generates new collaborations with new companies for which it is known that they will need INESCPORTO's skills.
Give an overview of the practice 
The LETIN consists in a physical or virtual pre-incubation space enable to companies creation projects which need on technical support from INESCPORTO. Each project is analyzed by the INESCPORTO and it is decided if the project is accepted or not. The support is given via: - consulting services, mainly from the internal staff. When specifically needed, external consulting services are requested to complete the expertise. - coaching services - resources and equipment from the lab or eventually from the INESCPORTO - service for linking to the market The services is usually free for researchers/companies from the INESCPORTO. If not, the service is charged. Usually, the INESCPORTO doesn't have prejudice from the financial point of view, because it can use funded projects for covering such expenses, and also beneficiates from new collaborations.
