What is the aim/objective? 
This cooperation model was implemented by INESC Porto (an R&D associate laboratory of the University of Porto) in order to ensure, from the beginning of the cooperation with a company, the following: - clear identification of the needs of the companies, and define a clear technical specification contract for both parts; - guarantee for commercialization of the product at the end of the project; - to avoid any problem at the end of the project.

The practice was created following the internal policy of the laboratory to provide services to the companies generating funding return to the laboratory. The different steps are: 1. Constitution of the partnership; 2. Negotiation of the licensing and establishing the way the product will be used; 3. Acceptance - up-date of the agreement according to the results of the project; The partnership always includes: 1. An end-user of the technology; 2. An intermediary entity, which usually will be the one which commercialize the product to the end us
